During the darkest hours following my bone marrow cancer diagnosis, I read Lance Armstrong’s first book.  He endured and overcame so much!  It helped inspire me to get back on my feet.

So like millions of Americans, I was disappointed to learn that Lance would be stripped of his seven Tour titles.  But after reading this AP article, it doesn’t sound like he has accepted the doping verdict:

MONTREAL — Lance Armstrong introduced himself as a seven-time Tour de France champion at a cancer conference Wednesday.

“My name is Lance Armstrong. I am a cancer survivor,” he said to open his speech to the World Cancer Congress. “I’m a father of five. And yes, I won the Tour de France seven times.”

I have never met Lance.  But I figure I can use his first name.  Reading his book helped save my life.  I don’t think he’ll mind!
